UNICO National is a nationwide service organization similar to Lions, Kiwanis and Rotary with over 135  local chapter in 17 States. Its membership is exclusively citizens of Italian heritage, or married to those of Italian heritage, of good character and reputation, united together in a national chain, working jointly on national projects and separately on community activities. It is non-political and non-sectarian. 

The Woodcliff Lake chapter of UNICO, chartered in 1990, has achieved national prominence and recognition, including:

*    In 1997, our former Congresswoman and member, the Honorable Marge Scafati Roukema, was admitted as UNICO National's first woman member.

*     In 1995, one of our charter members, the late Dr. Alfonso DiMino, received the first annual UNICO National Marconi Science Award for Scientific Excellence.

*    In 1991 our Chapter received a national award for being instrumental in organizing ceremonies in Hawaii honoring the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

*    Member Andre’ DiMino is the current President of UNICO National, and Mike Pisano is the National Secretary.

While supporting UNICO National scholarships and charities, such as Cooley’s Anemia, Mental Health, and the V Foundation for cancer research, the Woodcliff Lake Chapter devotes much of its fundraising efforts to local causes that benefit children in need, with major events such as the Annual Beefsteak Dinner and Auction.

We are constantly looking for new members to join our Chapter to help us achieve our goals and exemplify our motto of “Service Above Self”.
